15 TIPS ON SAVING MONEY WHILE TRAVELLING

1. TRAVEL IN "OFF" SEASON

Travelling during the off season can save you a lot of money as there is much less tourism that time. If you travel in the off season when less people travel, everything will be cheaper, from souvenirs to accommodation and this factor also affect the price of plane tickets.

2. BE FLEXIBLE WITH YOUR FLIGHTS

Search flights using a feature named "Low Fare Calendar" which many airlines offer, which shows you cheapest days to fly. Letting the price determine the  days on which you fly can result in huge savings.

3. FLY LESS

Avoid flights if your travelling in the same country. also, if you are travelling to a country which is linked by railways to the country you are in, then try getting there by railway. You can also select a couple of locations within a singe country and travel there by land.
This way you will not only save money, but you'll be able to enjoy those places more and really get a feel for them.

4. USE POINTS OR MLES

Chain hotels, like Hilton and Marriott, have a reward system that give you points for staying there and they are great to use for free overnight stays. When traveling, try to exclusively stay at those hotels and fly the same airlines to build your points.

5. CARRY SNACKS AND WATER DURING OUTINGS

You will need snacks while you are exploring, and it is really crazy to spend money on silly snacks. So keep some snacks in your bag and pull them out when the you need some. It is not a good idea to buy water from outside. And water bottles near tourist attractions are usually expensive. Instead get a water bottle filled in the hotel or wherever you are staying.

6. DON'T GET THE BEST ROOM

You are not travelling to stay in the hotel room in a different country or city. you are there to explore the place. So, don't spend much on hotel room instead get a room where you can sleep comfortably at night. as you will be travelling and exploring the place during the day.

7. DISCOVER HOSTELS

You may have heard of hostels already. But if you haven't then let me tell you, they're places that offer dormitory-style accommodations to travelers, where you can get a bed for the night instead of a whole room. the room will have many bed and you have to share room with other travelers
Staying in a hostel brings down the cost of travelling marvelously if you don't mind sharing room with other guests. Hostels are excellent places to save money as well as meeting new people.

8. TRY COUCHSURFING

Although couchsurfing isn't considered a safe option but if used correctly it can result in huge savings in hotels and stay expenses. It's a platform where local people of the area host the travelers in their house for free. Some of my friends have really good experience while using couchsurfing.

 9. STAY OUTSIDE A CITY

You often pay for location, and it’s sometimes cheaper to stay away from areas with big tourist attractions. You can always go to the attractions and then head back to your hotel to sleep.

10. RENT AN APARTMENT INSTEAD OF HAVING TO GET TWO ROOMS

If you have three or more children or a group of friends who need more than one room to stay it will be very expensive to stay in a hotel because you need to get adjoining rooms. An apartment or condo is often much cheaper.

11. TAKE ADVANTAGES OF FREE ATTRACTIONS

There are many free tourist attractions you can visit. In many places, you can find free walking tours or pub crawls, hiking trails are always a fun or free place to explore in the countryside. There will always be expensive things that you want to do or see, so by filling more of your time with the free-to-access items on your to-do list, you'll be able to save your money for the big-ticket tour that you’ve been dreaming of... while still having loads of fun as you travel!

12. WALK INSTEAD OF TAKING ANY TRANSPORT

Wherever possible try to walk instead of taking any transport. For example, if your going to a location not too far from the place you are staying then try to walk instead of taking a cab. This can save you some cash.

13. SHOP AT FARMER'S MARKET AND LOCAL STORES

Farmer’s markets often lower the price of their food towards the end of the day. Also, shopping at local stores allows you to taste the local cuisine without having to pay the price of a restaurant. Buy some local fish and cook it up yourself if possible.

14. HAVE A BIG LUNCH

In some cities, walking just a few blocks can slash prices at restaurants. Try not to eat at attractions because they tend to raise the price to their captive audience.

15. CREATE A BUDGET AND STICK TO IT

Know when to save and when to splurge. Even if you have much money try not to spend more knowingly. Look for ways to save money but also treat yourself during the trip.
Having a budget is a wonderful way to keep yourself on track.
